Today’s Wish List just has some fun items on it!

The Sisters of Los Angeles glasses are from Forever 21 and would be such a great gift — they have four or five other cities, too! I’m also loving the whale box and cactus candlestick. Just two really fun, whimsical items that add some personality to the home. I really think I may get the candlesticks for my office — with some hot pink tapered candles maybe? YES!

In my mind, the quartz, bar cart, gold frame and floor lamp are all pieces that you could have forever. I love that rocks are ‘in’ right now — makes me feel less nerdy after YEARS of collecting them in high school… ha ha!

The hashtag ice trays make me excited to have a party and the shoes and necklace are both awesome — when I was traveling last week, I saw a ton of women wearing Chanel espadrilles similar to the Payless ones. They were beautiful, but I looked up the cost — almost $1,000!!! Crazy. The super cute Payless version is $30… I know which way I’m going!

Lastly…the fig tree. I can’t wait to add one of these to the office – just have a long way to go to get organized! Some greenery will be the cherry on top!

Happy shopping & have a great day!

Five Things for Friday

Happy Friday!

I’m in North Carolina for the weekend for a wedding (a couple of the pictures are from my first outing this morning). One of my best friends growing up, Bob, is marrying SUCH an amazing woman in Amber and I couldn’t be more excited for them. I grew up next door to Bob and his brother, Greg, and have known him since I was two. I don’t know if there is a more genuine person on the planet — he would do anything for anyone and is the best non-blood brother a girl could ask for. I can’t wait for the weekend and to post about the wedding and some of the places we visit (hopefully, I’ve been doing some research!).

IMG_2292With the beautiful weather in the Lake Norman area, I was dying to find an outdoor office. Enter: Ramsey Creek Park.  Best. Outdoor. Office. Ever.

Couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the weekend!

Organized Living: Jewelry

Today’s post has to start with this incredible story from the Ellen Show. If you watch, you might remember sweet Tayt’s story. Here’s an incredible update. Grab some tissues — he’s incredible — he just couldn’t stop hugging Ellen in his most recent appearance on the show…so sweet!

In our previous apartment, I organized my jewelry in tackle boxes with different sections. I loved it — it kept everything from getting tangled and made me feel organized — but there was one problem, I couldn’t see everything, so I was wearing the same things over and over! This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I love jewelry and have a variety of pieces I love and I just wasn’t wearing them. As the years have passed by, I have compiled quite a bit of jewelry, but I hate getting rid of it since everything eventually comes back in style and I still love all of the different pieces.

When we moved into our new place, I was determined to come up with a system that was more inspiring and encouraged me to wear more of my jewelry. When Jason gave me our master closet that already had some built-in shelves, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to make everything more accessible.

There are three main spaces: necklaces hung on the wall, ‘fine’ jewelry/bracelets which are on one shelf and earrings/jewelry box which is on a second shelf.

In addition to displaying jewelry in a pretty way, I also wanted to give myself a place for little trinkets that were important to me to be kept in a way that didn’t feel cluttered.

First up, the necklace wall. I simply bought a few different set of hooks from Target and Home Depot (I think — similar here and here). The mask is a fun momento from the opening of the H&M location in New Orleans a few years ago.

The next two photos are from the shelf with some of the jewelry pieces I wanted to have easy access, too, as well as two bracelet stands. Some of the little keepsakes include a photo of my grandma and me when I was little, a card from a dear friend and one from Jason, a tape measure my grandma always used, a tiny clock from my Aunt Phoebe, a bracelet from TWLOHA and a pink handmade giraffe from my trip to Africa. When I see this shelf and that above it every morning it brings a smile to my face.

The final shelf has two earring holders. I also keep a special bracelet from Africa on this shelf (a Mandela bangle), as well as a jewelry box, mug from my Miracle League buddy, Brandon, and a little dish my mom got me for Christmas last year. Earrings were something I knew needed a new system, so I searched on Amazon to see what kind of earring storage options were out there — the spinning displays were the winner and I have loved them!

It’s not a perfect system, but it’s so nice to be able to see my jewelry and it definitely inspires a little creativity when it comes to accessorizing.

Happy organizing!

Wish List Wednesday: It’s Pelicans season!

Basketball is back!! The NBA season officially started last night and our home opener is Saturday! FINALLY!!!

Last night was the first game of the season. It didn’t have the result we were all hoping for, but that’s the beauty of the NBA…there is always another game. Last night’s game didn’t end until after 12:30 a.m. our time which is WAY too late for me. Tonight we play at Portland — another game past my bed time — but it’s fun to be able to WATCH us play (pre-season games were broadcast via radio only). We’re playing a new style of basketball and it. is. exciting.

Since the team rebranded to the Pelicans, I have been on the hunt for red and blue clothing and accessories. Some of the items I found online are so cute — the color change has been great — much easier to find navy and red!

Lucy Rose, a local boutique, has some great pieces that are VERY Pelicans game-day friendly (4, 7, 9, 23) and I am LOVING the cardigans — a must for games in case it gets chilly in the Smoothie King Center.

The Real LA shirt is awesome — would be a great shirt for when we play the Lakers or the Clippers. The fringe booties are from Candy Apple, another local boutique. Fringe booties are at the top of my list for shoes, so I may have to run over and see if they still have them in my size.

For the local fans, below are three items the Pelicans Shop by adidas (located at the Smoothie King Center) is currently carrying. Unfortuantely, they’re not on the Pelicans shop site, but the burlap bag, especially, is so cute.

After making the playoffs last year, I really hope the locals are looking forward to the season — it’s going to be a good one!

If you’re really a superfan — you could add one of these to your game-day look!

Have a great day and Go Pelicans!

Yay for Kendra Scott in NOLA!

Saturday was a big day, y’all…first [of likely MANY] trips to the new Kendra Scott store that just opened in New Orleans!

I’ve become a little obsessed with their pieces the last few years, but couldn’t be more excited to be able to shop in person! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves–the space is beautiful. From the light fixtures, to the Color Bar and all of the displays… can I move in? It’s just so pretty — I apologize for the geeking out over a store, but I had never been in one before, I’ve only shopped online.

I purchased two items: the Mable Silver Necklace in Mirror Rock Crystal and the Alex Earrings in White Howlite. All of the pieces I’ve purchased in the past had gold hardware, so I was excited to purchase a few in silver. The other great thing about the soft opening that Kendra Scott hosted on Saturday was the gift with purchase — a free pair of Danielle Earrings in Black Iridescent if you spend $50. They’re so pretty and different from anything I have — I’m excited to wear them!

If you’re local, stop by the store (5757 Magazine St. near Whole Foods) — I mean, how amazing is that fireplace?! Also — sign up for the Kendra Scott newsletter — you get 50% one piece during your birthday month!

Happy shopping — have a great day!
